Royal Mail celebrates classic British car collection
A collection of classic British beauties have been launched as part of Royal Mail’s new range of stamps that celebrate the best in British car manufacturing.
Featuring six main stamps which include the Aston Martin DB5, Jaguar E-Type, Lotus Esprit, MG MGB, Morgan Plus 8 and Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, most cars were launched in the 60s with the exception of the Esprit which was near to 1976.
In addition to the main six is a set which has been named ‘Workhorses’ because the cars that feature are classic working vehicles. The cars consist of the Austin FX4 black cab, Ford Anglia 105E, Land Rover Defender 110 and Morris Minor van.
The cars for the stamps were photographed by renowned vehicle photographer James Mann and the stamps as well as postcards and prints are all available to buy now. The images look immaculate with Andrew Hammond, director of stamps and collectibles at Royal Mail, has commented, ‘These cars are classic in every sense and we are delighted to be bringing a reminder of these iconic motor cars to the nation’s doorsteps through this latest stamp issue.
