Ford Capri is the dish of the day with Jamie Oliver and Co.
A 280 ‘Brooklands’ Ford Capri stars along-side Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty in their new TV series Food Fight Club. However, what adds to this story is that the one that co-stars on screen with the two chefs was the last Ford Capri to ever be built.
Although partially filmed in and around Jamie’s home county of Essex, the rest of the show, which kicked off on the 6th December on Channel 4 in the UK, will travel all over Europe as the pair try to convince the continentals of the delights of British cuisine and what is on offer.
The Capri is the celebrity chefs’ choice of transport and was chosen by Doherty and Oliver because it was one of the hallmarks of their childhoods and the car that they aspired to in the 1980s.
Just over a thousand Capri 280s were built by the Special Vehicle Engineering division at Ford with the model featuring a 2792cc V6 and providing a top speed of 127mph.
