A Beatle and Bond! Paul McCartney’s DB5 sells for £307,000!
Both The Beatles and James Bond are renowned British icons and the pair joined forces when Paul McCartney’s previously owned Aston Martin DB5 was sold at RM Auctions last month. The DB5 is one of the most relevant cars at the moment with James Bond bouncing back to the big screen in Skyfall, where he returns to his roots with the classic car!
Taking place in London the auction saw the 1964 Aston Martin DB5, that was first owned by Paul McCartney, sell for an astonishing £307,000!
Steeped with history, the classic car was first ordered by the world famous musician before The Beatles kicked off their world tour.
The classic vehicle was specified by McCartney and he originally filled the DB5 with a range of preferences including the selectaride rear shockers, chrome wire wheels and a leather interior which had musical notes stitched in. The front-man also modified the DB5 with a Motorola radio and a state of the art record player – a Philips Auto-Mignon record player that could spin a 45rpm vinyl record on the move.
The new owner can proudly rest assured with his expensive purchase as they are the lucky possessor of an iconic piece of motoring machine, let alone one that is drenched in history from the film and music industry.
